Steve's Experience

I am a dedicated amateur player that regularly competes in the England Regional Masters series of squash events and had been considering engaging with a coach, having not really had any outside help with my own squash for more than 10 years.

I initially approached Ahad after watching his YouTube series of PSA analysis videos. Two things struck me, his very careful considered approach to analysing the squash player in question and the fact that he was able to provide new insights into a game that I thought I already knew everything about!

From the moment I met Ahad on Zoom, he was everything I had hoped he would be. His smiling warm persona witnessed on YouTube is exactly what you get when working with him on a one to one basis. We have been working together for approximately three months and during that time my approach to squash has been transformed! He has equipped me with many new tools and techniques, ranging from technical adjustments, solo drills, mindset improvements, training plans to match preparation and mental training. We have been meeting once a fortnight and whilst he is warm and fun and easy to talk to, he is also able to understand when to press and push me to go outside my comfort zones in order to really make the changes required to improve. This can be physically / technically /  organisationally or mentally. This was especially evident when he helped to unblock some mental issues relating to how I view my own squash in relation to my upbringing. He skillfully manages to navigate being a technical coach and mentor alongside being a counsellor and confidant. We have built an incredibly high level of trust between us that allows me to tap into my deepest emotions with him to enable my own squash game to mature and improve. It is just great knowing you have Ahad as part or your team.

I would encourage anyone with an inner belief that they can improve their squash to talk to Ahad and feel what he is capable of. He will instil a high level of confidence in you and provide the tools you need to take your game to the next level.

My only regret is that I have not yet had the time to implement ALL the improvements he has offered me so far!

My journey has only just started with Ahad and I am already looking forward to what 2022 may bring.

Mohamed's Experience

My story before I met Ahad.

I have a kid playing squash U15 in Egypt, who start playing at the age of 11. He was trained by a good coach and showed some improvement, but he had never won a game (let alone a match) in any official tournament. I was asking many coaches about my kid and the same answer came up (it is a matter of time and he will improve). 6 months ago I saw a youtube video of Ahad analysing one of PSA match, I was surprised by his ability and his way of analysing every aspect of the game. I contacted him and sent him a match of my kid, asking him ( what is the problem ?). He sent me a detailed report of the major items that he noticed to work on. But he told me that the key item to start with is that my kid is not light on his feet, this must be corrected first. He recommended online sessions to help. At first I hesitated, wondering how this can help? I like to take some risk. I said (what are we going to lose? Let us try) ...

Ahad recommended simple fitness training to my kid and he trained him online to be sure that the technique is correct. and the journey started: split step, court movement, the effective T position, the basic idea of rally construction, swing techniques, training program construction, training load management, and mental program.

My kid start to win matches , progressed every tournament, and increased rank from 132 to 67 in 6 month duration.

Recently my kid showed the teenage struggles around sport retirement due to stress. Ahad helped me and my kid to pass this hard time. I consider this a huge credit for Ahad.

Despite being limited to online communication, Ahad is an important part of the team that should participate in my kid's journey. Of course you will need a court trainer, stroker, fitness coach, but the benefit of Ahad is at the same importance.

Chip's Experience

Ahad has a unique ability to break down film, using it to assess strengths and weaknesses, both for you and your opponent.  He has a thoughtful, analytic approach to the game.  He is curious about its various key elements – strategic, tactical, technical, physical and mental – while always looking for the latest science or developments in the sport.  He may become the Bill Belichick of squash, though without the grumpy demeanor!  As an older Masters player, I find Ahad a joy to work with – one leaves a session with him (via Zoom, in my case) feeling energized and ready for whatever my next opponent brings.
